Systems Engineer - Rig Support

Provides technical support and training for drilling rig personnel, focusing on ensuring reliable communications while optimizing the use of technology at rig sites. Delivers high quality, proactive customer focused support for internal drilling rig employees. Travels to various field and rig sites, works closely with drilling teams to address their needs. Working independently, adapting standards, policies and strategy to identify, analyze and resolve client issues. Supports rig personnel through use of remote tools and desk side support. Evaluates and communicates the technology needs of the company's business units to departments within Information Technology to meet business goals.
Performs customer support activities that include service, installation and troubleshooting of computer equipment, two way radio systems and intermediate support of applications.
Trains rig personnel at field locations on the use of computer equipment and applications to ensure they can perform and complete daily jobs.
Logs and tracks all requests using incident management database and ensures that chronic issues are communicated and escalated appropriately.
Acts as a Liaison between clients, vendors and other internal IT teams to ensure the timely delivery of service.
Handles problem recognition, research, isolation, resolution and follow-up for routine user problems and escalates complex or recurring problems to other functional teams or 3rd party vendors, while retaining ownership of the reported issue until resolution.
Evaluates network communications and application technologies by partnering with staff from Infrastructure and Application teams to make recommendations and improve the technology solutions provided to the rigs and rig personnel.
Analyzes existing processes and recommends changes to better leverage technology solutions with the objective of improving job efficiency and effectiveness.
Manages technology assets and ensures that accurate records and inventories of these assets are maintained.
Trains and acts as mentor to junior team members.
Review historical requests to identify trends and report to management findings, to include possible solutions.
Ability to work independently.
Education and Work
Experience:
3-6 years of related experience
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field preferred
Technical certifications in related field
Proficient with current technologies and standard business applications (Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Microsoft Office 2003 - 2013, Call Logging Software, Citrix, VPN)
Knowledge of Oil and Gas industry and associated applications (WellView.igView) a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to read, write and verbally communicate effectively
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Proficient at troubleshooting and support
Ability to teach others
Ability to travel required
Required to provide after hours, weekend support, including Company holidays as required.

Must employ the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and FRC (Fire Retardant Clothing) as required by the company's Environmental, Health and Safety policies.
Exposure to extreme changes in the weather, and limited exposure to humidity/moisture relative to atmospheric condition variations.
Limited exposure to dust, chemicals, gases, fumes, smoke, excessive noise and/or vibrations.
Work performed at field locations.
Up to 50% travel may be required for field assignments, meetings and training.
Overtime, Weekend and/or Holiday hours required.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
